Frequently asked questions
What causes rounded shoulders?
Hours at a screen pull your head forward, and your shoulders round to follow it. Over time your brain starts treating that position as normal, which is why stretching your chest helps for a while and then the rounding comes back. The 5-Minute Posture Fix works on the position your brain keeps returning to, not just on the muscles.
Why doesn’t sitting up straight last?
Because you can only hold it while you’re thinking about it. Your brain sets your posture automatically, so the moment your attention moves on, your body goes back to the position it’s used to. That’s why the 5-Minute Posture Fix doesn’t ask you to hold yourself straight all day.
I've tried stretches and posture devices. How is this different?
Do posture correctors work?
A posture corrector holds your shoulders back from the outside, so you can feel better while you wear it. It doesn’t change the position your brain holds you in, so when it comes off, your shoulders go back to where they were. The 5-Minute Posture Fix has nothing to wear: five minutes a day, working on the position your brain returns to.
How does my brain control my posture?
Your brain keeps you upright and balanced using what your eyes see, what your feet feel on the ground, your inner ear, and even how your jaw rests. If one of these is off, for example if one foot carries more weight than the other, your brain shifts your body to compensate, and you never notice it happening. That’s why the 5-Minute Posture Fix works with your feet, eyes and jaw instead of stretching muscles.
What do I do in the 5-minute routine?
Five short steps a day: a quick standing check, about a minute each for your feet, your eyes, and your jaw and tongue, and a final check to notice what changed. No equipment, no workout, nothing to wear. The steps change each week for four weeks, and you do them at home, barefoot.
How long does it take to fix rounded shoulders?
It depends on how long your shoulders have been rounded. The first change is usually how standing feels: it takes less effort. Changes you can see in photos usually take weeks, which is why the programme runs for 28 days and is short enough to keep going after that.
Will I see a before and after?
Yes, your own. On Day 1 you take front, side and back photos, and you retake them every week in the same spot, so you can put them side by side and see what has changed instead of guessing.
